Porridge is great for losing weight

Porridge and weight loss can hand in hand; it is such a tasty food and is also really good for you.

If you find porridge to be boring and it doesn’t sound appealling to you then you need to think outside the box a little; you can add ingredients when you make it to give it more taste. You can even change water for milk and even better try it with soya milk for a healthy, full flavour alternative. Also, you can use different varieties of oats too, for example, use Quinoa flakes instead of oats. Quinoa has been classed as a superfood and it is very good for you.

By eating porridge regularly, it can help you to lose weight healthily; you are not skipping meals which is a good thing and the porridge oats can help boost the immune system as fighting heart disease even boosting your libido!

Porridge is traditionally a breakfast food, but you can also have it at lunchtime if you want a hearty meal that will fill you up. Don’t be tempted to add cream to it or you will be undoing the goodness.

Perfect Porridge recipe

Ingredients for a single portion:

  • 75g porridge oats
  • 200ml milk, water or soya milk

In order to make the porridge simply mix the oats with the water or milk and put into medium heat in a saucepan. As the temperature rises it will begin to cook together. It only takes a couple of minutes to cook, but if you like yours thicker then leave it a bit longer.

When making the porridge you can add flavour by adding your own ingredients. Try any of the following for example:

  • Handful of blueberries
  • Chopped banana
  • Diced Apple (remove the skin and core first)
  • Chopped strawberries
  • Cinnamon
  • Golden Syrup
  • Ground Nutmeg

Nice one. I have never heard earlier about the fact that porridge are helpful in weight loss.
